Your Individual Journey
Every person and every brain injury is unique so Headway spends time to evaluate to best understand what can help.
Headway aims to facilitate an individual’s recovery by engaging the person and their family and carers in purposeful activity and socialisation. We do this via opportunities such as Art and Music;
Clients also have their own goals and desires which they wish to achieve. Headway works with each client to work towards achieving their individual goals.
CONNECTING TO SOCIETY
It is essential that individuals have the opportunity to develop Life Skills which are meaningful to them. This is a critical factor to success, as it enables the individual and their family to connect more purposefully with their local community, as well as having a positive impact on their overall health and wellbeing.
ACTIVITY PRODUCES SKILLS
Purposeful activity can produce;
- improved communication,
- increased independence,
- increased physical skills such as fine motor skills,
- increased cognitive skills such as memory,
- improved social skills,
- improved level of enjoyment and quality of life,
- increased leisure opportunities
- Improved familial relationships.
All of which can produce increased confidence and self-esteem.

ACTIVITY CAN ALSO HELP RAISE FUNDS FOR HEADWAY.
Headway is reliant on clients, their family, carers and the general public to fundraise in order to provide people with brain injury the opportunity to engage in purposeful activity and socialisation as part of their goals. If you’d like to find out how you can help visit our ‘Get involved’ section.
